Reconnecting returning citizens with their family is one of the core elements to our organization. It provides a person with a sense of belonging and value. Family is important. Below is an article explaining this fact. Also, posted is a picture of one of our participants who reconnected with his family. At first his thought was, “my family had done just fine without me all these years”. However, after several conversations explaining to him his role as the patriarch of the family and how just being there, perhaps sharing advice or showing up for an event would mean a lot, he was convinced. I had the opportunity to share this moment with them and it was priceless. This is a true testament of what our organization strives towards!
